Ayşe Küçükyılmaz
| Fourth year PhD student.
Ayşe Küçükyılmaz received her BS degree in Computer Engineering from Bilkent University in 2004. She obtained her MS degree in 2007 from the same department. Between 2005 and 2007, she was a member of the 3DTV EU Project, where she worked on 3D graphical object representations. Following her graduation, she worked as a junior engineer and completed projects on video processing, analysis, and motion tracking for security applications. In 2008, she started to pursue a PhD degree in the Computational Sciences and Engineering Department at Koç University under the supervision of Dr. Cagatay Basdogan and Dr. Metin Sezgin. She has been a member of the Robotics and Mechatronics Laboratory (RML) and the Intelligent User Interfaces Laboratory (IUI) since then. Her current research interests include natural human-computer interaction in virtual domains, haptic user interfaces, affective computing, and machine learning applications in adaptive and immersive multimodal user interfaces. |
Çağlar Tırkaz
| Ph.D. Student Çağlar is currently a Ph.D. student in Computer Science and Eng. program at Sabanci University. His Ph.D. is supervised by Prof. Berrin Yanikoglu (Sabanci University) and co-supervised by Prof. Metin Sezgin (Koc University). He received his Bs. degree in Computer Science and Eng. program from Sabanci University and his M.Sc. degree in Computer Eng. program from Yildiz Technical University. His research interests are face recognition / verification, gender / age estimation from face images, sketch recognition and human computer interaction. Çağlar joined IUI Lab in 2010.

Çağla Çığ
 | Second year Ph.D student at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. She received her B.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering from Middle East Technical University and M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from Game and Media Technology Master Program of Utrecht University. Her research interests include gaze tracking, affective computing, human-robot interaction, intelligent user interfaces, computer graphics and animation. |
Senem Ezgi Emgin
| First year Ph.D student. She received her B.Sc. degree in Information Systems Engineering from Boğaziçi University, and in Computer Science from SUNY Binghamton University in 2009. She received her M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from SUNY Binghamton University. Her work is co-supervised with Dr. Basdogan. She is currently working on vibrotactile touch screens.

Burak Özen
| First year M.Sc. Student Burak received his B.Sc. degree in Computer Science Department from Bilkent University. He has been working at IUI Lab since July, 2011. He is interested in Human Computer Interaction and his current research topic is about 'Personalized Learning in Sketch Recognition'.

Atakan Arasan
| M.Sc. Student Atakan received his B.Sc. degree in Electronics Engineering from Koc University. He is building a vibro-tactile stylus for use in pen-based interfaces. His work is co-supervised by Dr. Basdogan of the Robotics and Mechatronics Laboratory.

Mustafa Tulu

| Summer Research Student Emrah is a senior student at the Department of Computer Engineering, Middle East Technical University. He is interested in computer graphics and sign recognition. He minors in Operational Research in Industrial Engineering at METU. Emrah joined IUI LAB in Summer 2010, and he is working on primitive extraction for free-hand strokes.

İsmail is a Visiting Summer Researcher. He is a third year undergraduate student at the Electronics Engineering Department of İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi. İsmail is working on recognition of freehand circuit diagrams. He is interested in machine learning, human-machine interfaces and embedded system design.

S. Özgür Öğüz
| Degree earned: MS, Aug 2010 Özgür holds a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from Koc University. He is interested in 3D graphics, physics-based simulation, human-computer interaction, as well as machine learning, and their applications in HCI. His thesis focused on multimodal collaboration models in virtual environments with haptic, visual, and auditory feedbacks. Özgür joined the IUI Lab in 2008.
